Kourant Technologies Inc. is the latest of Mr. Painchaud’s venture. This cleantech start-up is commercializing an innovative and patented wastewater treatment technology for which it closed a 6.3 M$ financing round for the purpose of a making a major demonstration project in the Montreal region.

Dr. Maria Elektorowicz

Dr. Maria Elektorowicz, ing., is a professor in Environmental Engineering at Concordia University in Montreal. Her research interests are bio-physicochemical interaction phenomena in soil/groundwater/contaminant matrix, as well as treatment of sediments, wastewater, biosolids and industrial sludge. She obtained her M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from Warsaw Technical University, Poland. In 1978, she was awarded a UNESCO postdoctoral fellowship. Between 1972 and 1981, she conducted research in the Institute of Air Quality and Water Resource Management in Warsaw, Poland. Dr. Elektorowicz also taught Environmental Engineering at the University of Constantine in Algeria from 1981-1986. After working as a Research Associate for 6 years at the Geotechnical Research Centre at McGill University, she was appointed to Concordia University in 1993. Dr. Elektorowicz is a Member of the Provost’s Circle of Distinction at Concordia as well as a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and Albert E. Berry Medal Recipient decerned for an outstanding contribution to the field of environmental engineering in Canada.

Édith Laflamme

With a degree in Chemical Engineering and a DEC in Water Sanitation, the expertise developed over the past 17 years is in physicochemical treatment processes such the ballast flocs clarification, high rise flotation, membrane filtration and also in biological fixed biofilm processes such as MBBR and hybrid bio filtration. Significant experience in installation, logistics and follow-up of pilot tests especially for BNQ approval.

François-René Bourgeois

François-René has more than 10 years of experience in research and development in biological processes for a multitude of different environmental applications. François-René is a well-established professor at the Cégep St-Laurent and is the author of many international scientific publications.
